Gaming is at the height of popularity with the PS4

Gaming is at the height of popularity with the PS4 and Switch doing record numbers. This year looks to be great for gamers with its incredible lineup of games.

Here we look at the top 10 most exciting games that are coming in 2018. The games here are the ones that excite me the most and should excite you too.

Far Cry 5

Ubisoft’s open world series has its upcoming installment in Hope County. Ubisoft’s take on the wild west looks good. We should agree that not only PC games like this but betting games also disrupting internet market using mobile & PC technology.

Ubisoft has lately been doing good with Watch Dogs 2 improving on the original and Assassin’s Creed: Origins reinvigorating the franchise. While they may not be in the glory days of Assassin’s Creed 2 they are doing better every year. Far Cry 5 releases on March 20 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

God of War

Sony Santa Monica Studio created the God of War games which has always been greater than meets the eye. They look great and feel satisfying to play. The new one looks to improve with a good story.

God of War is coming on April 20 on PS4. SSM is one of Sony’s best studio in technical terms so it will take advantage of the hardware.

Biomutant

An open world game from a small Swedish developer, Biomutant looks fun. It has cute animals with cool weapons. Biomutant will to release sometime in 2018 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Dark Souls: Remastered

Dark Souls is coming to the current gen consoles at last. This is the best game I’ve played and is coming on May 25, 2018.

Dark Souls: Remastered boasts 60fps refresh on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. A lot of people are excited for the Switch port for its portability.

Red Dead Redemption 2

The sequel to the best open world game in the traditional sense that I’ve played Red Dead Redemption 2 is a game I’m looking forward to. It is made by Rockstar and is a prequel to the story of John Marston.

Red Dead Redemption had the most fleshed out story and characters of any Rockstar game, even more than Max Payne 3 and it had great online free roam multiplayer. It is currently scheduled to come in 2018 on PS4 and Xbox One

Soulcalibur 6

Soulcalibur is a long running 3D fighting game series. It has weapon based fighting system.

Soulcalibur 5 had deep fighting mechanics. All Soulcalibur 6 needs is more single player content. Soulcalibur 6 will come to PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Code Vein

Code Vein is an anime like open world take on the Souls games. It adds to that with companions. That entails this title to feel different from the Souls series.

Code Vein releases sometime in 2018 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Darksiders 3

Darksiders 3 plays like the Greek God of War games. You take the role of Fury, one of the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse. She uses a whip in combat which looks fast and fluid.

The game is being developed by Gunfire Games, formed by Vigil employees who made Darksiders and Darksiders 2. Darksiders 3 is coming in 2018 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Spiderman

Spiderman fans have wanted a good Spidey game for years and Spiderman on PS4 looks to be that game.

Developed by Insomniac Games there is no doubt Spidey is in good hands. Their track record is excellent and every new footage of Spiderman looks great.

Days Gone

Days Gone is a zombie shooter with so many zombies filling the screen that it feels different. This game is coming in 2018 to the PS4.

GST Effect: Destiny 2, Call of Duty: World War 2 Price Hiked in India

Call of Duty: World War 2’s India price has been revised. According to several retailers speaking to Gadgets 360, the game will cost Rs. 4,499 on the PS4 and Xbox One. The PC version of Call of Duty: World War 2 is now Rs. 3,799. Previously it was announced that the game will cost Rs. 4,299 on the PS4 and Xbox One and Rs. 3,499 on PC. The release date

And Call of Duty: World War 2 isn’t the only game from Activision to see a price hike in India. Destiny 2is also going to be more expensive. The Destiny 2 India price is now Rs. 4,499 on PS4 and Xbox One, and Rs. 3,799 on PC. Earlier it was announced that it be Rs. 4,299 on the PS4 and Xbox One and Rs. 3,499 on PC.

The reason for the price increase given to retailers is GST. However, this makes little sense. Reason being, the impact of GST on games is minimal.

GST Effect: Destiny 2, Call of Duty: World War 2 Price Hiked in IndiaPlus, other publishers, such as Warner Bros – who was speculated to hike pricing on Middle-Earth Shadow of War on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC at retail did not and neither has Sony or Microsoft done so on its first-party games line-up like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy or Forza 7 yet. Nonetheless, we’ve requested Activision’s distributor, World Wide CD ROM for comment and will update this story when we hear from the company.

At the moment, online retailers such as Amazon and Games The Shop haven’t updated their prices and stores have been notified by the distributor, World Wide CD ROM that pre-orders made on the older price will be honoured. So if you’re looking to pre-order Destiny 2 or Call of Duty: World War 2, you may want to act fast. Though if our past experiences have been any indication, patience could pay off considering that both titles should be on sale well before the year is up.

The release date for Call of Duty: World War 2 is November 3 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, while Destiny 2 is out on September 6 for the PS4 and Xbox One with the PC version due on October 24.

Update, July 18, 2016: A spokesperson for World Wide CD ROM has confirmed to Gadgets 360 that the price revision is due to GST.

Call of Duty: World War 2 Nazi Zombies Trailer Leaked

Call of Duty: World War 2’s Nazi Zombies mode has been leaked. The long-running shooter series see the return of zombies to the fold with a trailer leaking what you can expect.

Zombies in Call of Duty: World War 2 trailer appear to be collectively known as the Army of the Dead – which could also be the name of the map shown according to some.

Seemingly engineered by the trailer’s narrator who claims that they’re a ‘symbol of the glorious Fourth Reich’. The trailer also shows off blimps, hordes of shambling zombies, a glimpse of the undead basking in flames, and hypes up a more powerful variant dubbed as the ‘Devil himself’.

Call of Duty: World War 2 Nazi Zombies Trailer LeakedWith what appears to be a blimp and a lot of blood, gore, and guns, it may just be a darker take on the game mode, which has had a somewhat whimsical, almost comic tone in the Call of Duty: Black Ops series.

Nonetheless, developer Sledgehammer Games will officially be revealing the Call of Duty: World War 2’s Zombies Mode at the San Diego Comic Con. Furthermore, Sledgehammer Games has claimed that the leaked trailer isn’t final, asking fans to hold off until the worldwide reveal.

In the run up to this, it has announced that erstwhile Doctor Who, David Tennant is voicing one of its playable characters Dostan Hynd while Daredevil’s Elektra, Elodie Yung voices Olivia Durant.

The Call of Duty: World War 2 beta date is August 25 to August 28 for those who pre-order the game on the PS4 with PS4 and Xbox One owners partaking in an open beta from September 1 to September 4.

Here’s the full list.

Destiny 2 Beta Bugs for the PS4 and Xbox One Listed By BungieDestiny 2 beta PS4 and Destiny 2 bugs

  • Players may experience a variety of networking error codes when attempting to play the beta
  • Bungie will be testing server stability throughout the beta, which may cause error codes to appear periodically
  • Location names sometimes do not appear during Crucible gameplay

  • Players may sometimes be placed at the beginning of the Inverted Spire strike when joining in progress
  • Sandbox balancing is still taking place: some weapons or abilities may have higher or lower damage than intended

Overwatch’s New Hero Doomfist Will be Playable on July 27

The latest addition to the Overwatch roster of heroes, Doomfist will be playable for all from July 27. While you can play as Doomfist in Blizzard’s PTR (public test realm/region) on PC, he’s not available for the PS4 or Xbox One just yet. This will change on July 27.

Overwatch developer Blizzard announced this news in a video that showcased the thought process behind Doomfist’s creation. It seems that he wasn’t intended to be a new hero, receiving a passing mention in the game’s reveal cinematic. However fan feedback prompted the studio to get to work to make him a reality.

In terms of design, Doomfist was inspired by classic 2D fighting games and his aesthetic has been chosen to portray power with liberal uses of red and gold.

Overwatch's New Hero Doomfist Will be Playable on July 27As for the game’s lore, Doomfist was defeated by an Overwatch strike team consisting of Winston, Tracer, and Genji and has been biding his time in prison until now. His arrival in the game should result in some interesting conversations with other characters like Reaper and Widowmaker – both of whom belong to the same organisation as him – Talon. Though he isn’t voiced by actor Terry Crews, as some would have liked following Crews’ lobbying for the role.

Prior to this, crashlogs for the game had hinted of Doomfist’s arrival to the game. There’s a mention of both – Doomfist and Summer Games. This was spotted on Reddit and the official Overwatch forums. They have since been deleted though you can check it out here.

With last year’s Overwatch Summer Games event beginning on August 2, we won’t be surprised to see it make a return around the same timeframe. Considering Doomfist is slated for July 27, this means we could see the Overwatch Summer Games event soon after.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle India Price Announced

Earlier Gadgets 360 reported that Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle for Nintendo Switch will be officially released in India. Now the game finally has a price too. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is Rs. 3,499 in India. There’s a collector’s edition too that will set you back by Rs. 5,999. Specialist games retailer Games The Shop has listed Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle for the Nintendo Switch with an August 29 release date that’s inline with the rest of the world.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Collector’s Edition for Nintendo Switch

  • The complete game on cartridge
  • A six-inch figurine of Rabbid Mario by UbiCollectibles
  • A set of physical collector’s cards
  • The original soundtrack on CD

In the past, Nintendo Switch games such as Cars 3: Driven To Win – which was the first official Nintendo Switch game available in India, sported a Rs. 2,499 price tag. For comparison’s sake, new games on the PS4 and Xbox One are usually in the range of Rs. 3,499 to Rs. 4,299.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle India Price AnnouncedGames The Shop is owned by E-xpress — India’s biggest distributor for video games. E-xpress is the India distributor for game publisher Ubisoft. With the publishing duties for the game in the hands of Ubisoft rather than Nintendo and with Ubisoft having an official India presence, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is the first Mario game on the Nintendo Switch to be made officially available in the country.

This isn’t the first time a distributor has made a game officially available in India for a console that hasn’t had a release through its manufacturer. We’ve seen this with the Nintendo DS and 3DS getting Pokemon games via Sunder Electronics and Nintendo Wii titles from E-xpress and the now defunct Milestone Interactive in the past.

As for the Nintendo Switch itself? Gadgets 360 understands that the console is selling steadily online and offline sourced via parallel imports. Nintendo’s absence has been far from a detriment. Hopefully, Indian distributors and game publishers bring more of their games to the platform in the future.

God of War India Price and Pre-Order Details Revealed

PS4-exclusive God of War has an India price. Much like most Sony-published games, it will retail for Rs. 3,999. It’s already up for pre-order on some sites like Flipkart and Games The Shop and should be live on Amazon India soon enough.

At the moment, neither site have any pre-order bonuses for the game. Considering that the last new two titles – God of War 3 on the PS3 and God of War: Ascension had freebies such as boxer shorts, it’s odd to see the lack of any incentives this time around.

But considering how popular God of War has been in India, safe to say Sony India is betting on its appeal alone to drive pre-orders.

God of War India Price and Pre-Order Details RevealedGod of War releases early 2018. Sony hasn’t given a concrete release date just yet. But if we take into account past releases in the franchise, you can expect it to be out in March.

With Sony releasing the PS4 Pro after God of War’s reveal — which the developers state was done on a standard PS4, there’s always the temptation for developers to optimise the game for the newer, more powerful platform that is the PS4 Pro at the cost of skimping out on the existing one, which in this case is the original PS4. However this will not be the case with God of War. Revealed at E3 2016 after a fairly accurate leak, it seems that the game will run just fine on a regular PS4.

Safe to say there will be some additional visual enhancements for the PS4 Pro, but the fact that Barlog has stated it will run as it should on the PS4 should have many a PS4 owner sighing in relief.

Clash of Clans Maker Supercell Talks Strategy in a Post-Pokemon Go World

Supercell, the maker of hit mobile game Clash of Clans, said on Wednesday sales growth stalled last year due to competition from new challengers such as Nintendo Co’s Pokemon Go, though earnings rose.

Clash of Clans Maker Supercell Talks Strategy in a Post-Pokemon Go World

The Finnish company, majority owned by China’s Tencent Holdings Ltd, said profits benefited from lower spending on advertising and the successful launch of its latest game, Clash Royale.

“Despite tighter competition, this was the best year so far in financial terms. Clash Royale was a huge hit,” Chief Executive Ilkka Paananen told reporters.

Clash of Clans, a war strategy game in which players build fortresses, form clans with other players and battle it out in a Medieval-style fantasy world, has remained on the list of top-earning applications since its launch in 2012.

In 2016, it was ranked No. 2 after Mixi Inc’s Monster Strike, according to research company App Annie. Clash Royale, which features Clash of Clans characters, was No. 5.

Augmented-reality Pokemon Go, which has players walking around real life neighbourhoods to catch and train Pokemon, has the biggest number of active users but in revenue terms lagged Clash of Clans.

“In the summer, when Pokemon Go was a huge hit, a taxi driver asked me what would be our counter-attack. I said there’s no point in doing something against a competitor, we must only focus in doing what we do best, improve our games further,” Paananen said.

Rather than launching a variety of games for different audiences, Supercell has focused on developing a handful. Using a “freemium” price strategy, its games are free to download, but generate revenue from in-game purchases.

The strategy has helped Supercell avoid the problems faced by the likes of Rovio Entertainment, which has launched several titles but failed to create a follow up hit to its Angry Birds.

Supercell’s earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation rose to EUR 917 million ($967 million or roughly Rs. 6,518 crores) last year from 848 million in 2015. Revenue was broadly flat at EUR 2.1 billion (roughly Rs. 14,928 crores).

IHS Technology analyst Jack Kent said the flat revenue indicated new challenges.

“The overall mobile games market is still increasing, but the explosive growth driven by the rise in smartphone penetration and the shift to a freemium model is slowing,” he said.

“Supercell is still making a lot of money… (but it) is also facing the challenge of how to follow up on its initial major hits.”

Paananen said the company might test a new game in selected markets later this year, but there were no immediate plans to do so.

Founded in 2010, Supercell has just 213 employees but has become one of Finland’s most profitable companies.
